Wedding Tips ~ Timely Ideas Towards Planning The Perfect Wedding

As I continue building my wedding planning website, I keep finding interesting information that, by itself, doesn't necessitate a separate page.

This wedding tips page is where I'll be adding these snippets.

Please enjoy them, and if you have a wedding tip you would like added, don't hesitate to contact me to send it in. Thank you.

Wedding Tip #1 ~ About Wedding Invitations

Your wedding invitations should be sent out earlier than you think especially if your wedding is going to be held during the busy season - June, July, August - when people you are planning to invite will have lots of summer holiday plans.

Early notification gives people who are traveling time to make hotel and travel plans.

I always advise sending invitations out 3 months before the wedding date, with an RSVP date of 3 weeks before the event.

It is not unreasonable to send out e-mailed or snail-mailed pre-invitations a year or so in advance, something like:

Please save this date for our wedding celebration:

Saturday September 6, 2010
in North Bay, Ontario

A formal invitation for you will arrive in June 2010.

With love,

Mark and Sarah

In this way, your prospetive guests can be sure to keep your wedding date open.

Wedding Tip #2 ~ About The Marriage License

Get your marriage license well before your wedding date so that if complications arise, you have time to deal with them.

Remember to bring your marriage license to the ceremony because you can't get married without it!

in a hurry

A lot of officiants ask that the engaged couple bring their license to the rehearsal, getting it into the hands of the officiant early, so that during the actual wedding, things aren't put on hold at the church while the best man or designate races to the groom's home to find the document.
