Appoint The Wedding Planner: Basic Rule #1
Warm fuzzy getting-ready-to-have-a-wedding feelings can evaporate pretty quickly if everyone involved in making the decisions about this wedding are not on the same page.
There are so many decisions to be made about selecting the perfect wedding reception venue, wedding flowers, wedding meal, etc. For example, are all involved leaning toward having a traditional wedding, or is the more avant-garde the direction?

I'll refer to this person simply as the Planner and you get to figure out which person the Planner is in your particular situation: whether it's the bride, groom, mother or father of either one, close family friend... whomever.
Remember: the bride and groom are supposed to enjoy their momentous day, so if circumstances permit, it may be easier on them to have someone else be the Planner for their wedding, one catering to their every wish (within reason, of course).
From start to finish
Throughout this website, I plan an assortment of fictitious weddings to illustrate specific points. This wedding is for Mark and Sarah, and I've decided that the Planner in their case is Mark's mother, Leslie.
Here's a bit of information about our engaged couple.
Mark and Sarah are both in their last year of university and don't have the time to do the investigating about the hundreds of decisions that need to be made to ensure they have a spectacular and memorable wedding.
Leslie, Mark's mom, is retired and does have the time.
Leslie is also a pretty well-organized person on the whole and, although she's never planned a wedding before, she wants this wedding to be special for her son and his fiance and is excited to be involved. Leslie is our Planner.
Step one on the journey to creating a memorable wedding is to select one person to be the Planner - the person to whom everyone concerned with planning this wedding can go to for direction, ideas and advice. The Planner is the person who will collect and coordinate all wedding information.
